Japan does not have an official au pair program, but under the Working Holiday visa, young people from certain countries can enter Japan and become an au pair.
Being an au pair in Japan is a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese nature, culture, customs and food while improving your language skills and meeting new friends.

Requirements for au pairs in Japan

18-30 years old
Can't be married and have children
Basic knowledge of Japanese or English language
Be able to pay for travel expenses

Requirements for host families in Japan

Have at least one child under the age of 18
Provide au pair with own bedroom and all meals
Provide au pair with pocket money from 10.000 YEN / week
Au pair duties cannot exceed 6 hours / day and 35 hours / week
Au pair stay: 12 month
Be a Japanese speaking family and willing to be part of a cultural exchange
Be a different nationality than the Au Pair's nationality
